Youth Violence is Directly Connected to Drug Abuse – Is There a Way to Solve Drugged Violence?

Drugs create violence. The youth violent crime rate in Canada has increased by 12 percent over the last decade. This is a cause of some concern. However, youth assault with a weapon shot up 40% and homicide, the killing of another human being, by youth devastated 41% more families, compared to 10 years ago. (StatCan.ca 2006)

Cocaine and other drug charges amongst youth hit 135% and 156% increases, while marijuana charges were 91% greater. (StatsCan.ca 2006)

I hope I’ve painted a clear enough picture for even a die hard drug lord: more drug use creates more violence and death. Some deniers claim that society is violent or that violence in movies creates violence. Well that may be true and it may be false.

Fact: Drugs change how people think, feel and act. No one can argue that point – as that’s why many people use drugs.

Should we be doing something about the increase of drug use and violence in youth now, while we can? Should we wait for someone else to do something about it, like throwing kids in jail or medicating offenders into oblivion? Billions of dollars go into crime enforcement strategies – much of this money goes toward policing, justice systems etc.

Do More Police Solve The Consequences Of Drug Abuse? Do You Know What To Do?

But policing is a reactionary measure at solving violence created by drug abuse. While policing is now required to deal with drug violence, society, family or the person themselves didn’t act properly to end drug abuse before it became a problem. Most family members tell me they don’t know what to do. They say they can’t relate to the problem of drug addiction or drug abuse.

Drug abuse and even drug use, like violence and crime following drug abuse, is a symptom of an earlier problem. Drugs are actually solutions to people who haven’t competently solved their real life problems sufficiently. Many drug users say, they can’t party without drinking, or being stoned (drugged). Others say they like the feeling of being drugged, that reality doesn’t make them feel that way.

Here are the facts: They are either living way below their potential – like a race car driver amongst skate boarders; they aren’t living at all; they have long ago retreated from reality; they are in the middle of a significant loss of major importance to them. This loss is usually the loss of the idea that they could achieve their life’s goals.

What Can Parents, Family, Friends And Teachers Do To Curb Youth Violence Trends?

First and foremost – get educated about natural health solutions and holist methods of solving problems. The best solution to life problems is to do a great deal more living. Sure living can be strewn with loses and failures. We wouldn’t lose if we never tried. Trying pre-supposes that one mess up now and again. The winners in life keep trying until they find a way to win.

The tough news is that drug abusers have kind of accepted defeat already. The good news is that they can have their lives re-invigorated by correctly working out their true life’s path or goals and getting active on attaining that or those goals. Life is fun, awful, fantastic, difficult, wonderful etc. Living is meant to have a challenge or ten built into it.
